Four killed in head-on collision on R38 between Hendrina and Carolina

Four people died in a head-on collision on the R38, and an investigation is underway as authorities call for safer driving in wet conditions.

Four people were killed in a head-on collision between two sedans on the R38 between Hendrina and Carolina earlier today.

Emergency services declared all victims dead on the scene, including two passengers and a driver in one vehicle, as well as the sole occupant of the second sedan.

Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the circumstances that led to the crash.

Mpumalanga MEC for Community Safety, Security and Liaison, Jackie Macie, urged motorists to take extra care on the roads, especially during periods of rain and poor visibility.

He warned that wet and slippery conditions often reduce reaction time and increase the risk of serious collisions.

Macie stressed that drivers must adjust their speed and following distances to suit the weather and road surface.
