Body recovered after Douglas Dam Ermelo search operation

A woman’s body has been recovered at Douglas Dam in Ermelo after a police diving operation following a reported drowning.

Emergency services have confirmed that the body of a woman has been recovered at Douglas Dam in Ermelo following an extensive search operation earlier today.

Police divers, assisted by Jaco Kirk of Spartan Training & Security and volunteer diver Alwyn van der Linde, conducted an underwater search after reports of a possible drowning were received at the scene.

The operation, led by divers from Middelburg (SAPS), resulted in the recovery of the body, bringing the search phase of the operation to an end.

At this stage, authorities have not yet released the identity of the deceased, pending formal identification and notification of next of kin.

The circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation.

Police divers from Middelburg are preparing to enter Douglas Dam in Ermelo following reports of a possible drowning.

SAPS members, along with Spartan Training & Security personnel, are currently on scene as a coordinated response unfolds.

At this stage, no official confirmation has been made regarding the identity of any person involved.

Search operations are expected to continue as divers work to locate the missing person, with the exact position still unknown at this stage.
