Ramakrishna Clinic and Bhika Optometrist brings free healthcare to Ermelo
Epic community event unites Ermelo resident with essential health services.

ERMELO – The Ramakrishna Clinic of South Africa and Bhika Optometrists Inc held its first medical outreach in Ermelo on Saturday, 15 August 2026, on a chilly 4°C morning and it was a resounding success.
The event, held at Trident Medical Center brought together the community for a day of free Health care, hope and support. Led by Chairperson Dr Shivani Singh, the Outreach was a collaborative effort with Bhika Optometrist Inc. The facility was transformed into a vibrant hub of care!
Despite the cold, around 300 patients were seen across various disciplines, including Medicine, Paediatrics, Allied Health, Audiology and Optometry. With patients queuing enthusiastically along the street to access the free services, spectacles and medication, with many expressing their gratitude for the care and attention they received .

More than just a medical event , this was a celebration of what is possible when hearts and hands come together. The outreach was a wonderful demonstration of how united the Ermelo community is, with the Ermelo Muslim Jamaat , the Rotary Club , dedicated volunteers, healthcare professionals and community members coming together to support and care for those in need
The outreach was a true example of what can be achieved when organisations and volunteers unite with one goal serving and caring for the Ermelo community. A heartfelt thank you to our dedicated Sponsors and volunteers who gave their time, resources and support to make this meaningful day possible, keeping with the philosophy of the Ramakrishna Clinic in the words of Vivekanada: “ They alone live, who live for others”.
