Two learners earned provincial honours as 18 advanced to the next round in prestigious computer skills competition.
Netherland Park Secondary School has reached a proud milestone this year with its first-ever participation in the national Computer Applications Technology (CAT) Olympiad.
The first round of the competition took place on April 10, with 32 Grade 11 and 12 learners from the school participating.
They joined participants from 108 other schools across South Africa in this prestigious academic event focused on digital literacy and computer applications.
Thanks to the hard work, dedication, and commitment of the learners, Netherland Park Secondary secured an impressive 5th place overall in the national rankings.
Eighteen of the school’s participants qualified for the next round of the Olympiad.
Particularly noteworthy is the performance of two learners, Uzothandwa Mkhwanazi (Grade 12) and Mxolisi Masina (Grade 11), who both achieved second place in Mpumalanga.
“This is an outstanding accomplishment, not only for the individual learners but for our school community as a whole,” a school representative said.
The school has expressed excitement about building on this year’s success and continuing to develop excellence in technology education in the years to come.
“We are immensely proud of all our participants and look forward to seeing how far they will go in the next rounds.”
