ADL Mason, Regional Co-ordinator Mpumalanga Unashamedly Ethical:

I hope this reminder of what I see and hear is happening in Ermelo will cause someone with authority to take note.

Is it perhaps the Executive Mayor, Mr Sipho J. Bongwe, and does he know the importance of the task that he volunteered to do?

What does God’s word say in Proverbs 16:12? It is an abomination to Kings to commit wickedness; for the throne is established by righteousness, so when the Bible talks about KINGS this means authority, the head of the home, business, Government and God the Father as well. In Proverbs 16: 7 it says when a man’s ways please the Lord, He maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.

I come from a farm just outside Lothair and in the1960s a man by the name of Tomy Bongwe was the truck driver for Mr Boet Prinsloo and our Executive Mayor, Mr Sipho Bongwe, is his son.

I only mention that so that the reader will know that Mr Bongwe is also part of our community. He will also be aware of the building that was erected in Lothair in 2011 and to be occupied in early December.

I do not know the exact figure of what its cost was, but it should be well over two million rand. The building is still not in use and I believe it was built the wrong way around and the walls inside are built at an angle. Nothing is square. Taxpayers’ money was used.

What happened to the architect or were the plans ever passed?

The qualifications of the builder are also highly suspect and who signed the project off?

Then there is the pump station in Lothair that pumps water from the river. The filter plant has never been cleaned properly but someone was paid or did they do it for free?

I would also like to know who gave the person the go-ahead, as the pipe has been reduced so that a canvas hose that is used to deliver water is now the scutcheon hose and that will never work. A smaller pump was then fitted to the scutcheon hose to force water up the hose, but this is not near enough to satisfy the big pump’s needs so it will overheat and stands the chance of destroying itself.

May I again remind you this is taxpayers’ money that is to be used by responsible people, as this money was hard earned and not to be wasted.

The story can go on and on. I have a figure of more or less R350-million that the municipality will find hard to account for.

Shocking!
