Make sure you have a valid will
Next week is National Wills Week, an ideal opportunity to get a professional and legal will drafted, at no cost.
THE public is encouraged to make use of National Wills Week from September 14 to 18.
A will is an important legal document that provides peace of mind by ensuring that your wishes are clearly recorded and can be considered after your death. It sets out how you want your estate to be dealt with and identifies the people or organisations you wish to benefit from your assets.
A valid will can help provide clarity for those left behind and reduce uncertainty about how your estate should be administered.

Legal Aid SA KZN spokesperson Bongani Mahlangu said, “Do not leave your wishes uncertain or wait until it is too late. Making a valid will is an important part of planning for the future and ensuring that your wishes are clearly expressed.”
Mahlangu said Legal Aid SA, in partnership with the Department of Justice and Constitutional Development (DoJ&CD) and the Law Society of SA (LSSA), is joining forces with the Master’s Offices and participating law firms and attorneys to support the public with access to will-drafting services during National Wills Week.
“This collaborative initiative brings together key stakeholders in the justice sector to make will-drafting more accessible to the public and to encourage people to take this important step in planning for the administration of their estates.”
During Wills Week, Mahlangu advised that people can get free advice and help with drafting or updating a will from qualified legal professionals.
To get assistance visit the Pinetown Local Office at ABSA Building, 1st Floor, 1 Church Road, Pinetown and bring along your ID, a list of your assets and the details of the person(s) you want to leave them to.
