Talk on vaccine development at Unitarian Fellowship meeting
VACCINE development – Triumph and Tragedy is the topic of Prof Raal’s presentation on Sunday, 8 February, when the Unitarian Fellowship meets at Frank Farrer Hall in Westville at 10am.
The present rabies scare is a grim reminder of how vulnerable we are to disease and how lucky we are to live in an age in which so much can be done to alleviate sickness.
The presentation is based on Meredith Wadman’s riveting narrative on the trials, tribulations, successes and moral dilemmas in vaccine development since Jenner and Pasteur.
Prof Raal will also cast a forward look at how safe we are against runaway epidemics in the future.
