Barritt added to Kearsney wall of fame
A signed British and Irish Lions rugby jersey will hang in Kearsney College's Wall of Fame.
ONE of KZN’s favourite sporting sons, Brad Barritt presented a signed British and Irish Lions rugby jersey to his former school, Kearsney College last week.
When he and Matt Stevens toured Australia with the Lions last month, it was believed to be the first time ever that two players from the same school outside the United Kingdom formed part of a British and Irish Lions squad at the same time.
Barritt (25) and Stevens (29), both Durban-born, were schooled at Kearsney College.
Barritt presented the historic jersey, signed by every member of the Lions team, on his and Stevens’ behalf.
It was a particularly sentimental occasion for Barend Steyn, the current 1st XV coach at Kearsney. He coached both Barritt and Stevens during their 1st team seasons at the school.
The framed jersey will be hung in the Greyhound Pavilion, together with jerseys from Kearsney’s other international representatives.
