“The abuse must end”

Members of a local church took to the streets to speak out against woman and child abuse.

MEMBERS of the Pinetown Seventh Day Adventist Church took to the streets on Sunday 1 September to march against woman and child abuse.

Church members marched from Pinetown main rank to the Pinetown Police Station entrance on Old Main Road.

“The abuse must end now,” said Seventh Day Adventist Church’s Women’s Ministry leader Lunyi Molebale.

During the march Molebale encouraged other churches to speak out against woman and child abuse.

“We empower others to speak out and we are advocating for change,” she said.

Sibongile Nhlapho, the COSATU provincial gender chairperson also spoke at the march.

“We thank the work that the police have done, but it is not enough,” said Nhlapho.
