School opens wallet for Open Door
John Wesley pupils raised more than R3000 at the Nelson Mandela birthday celebration and split the funds raised between two worthy causes.

JOHN Wesley School recently handed a cheque for R1850 to The Open Door Crisis Centre in Pinetown. A total of R3 700 was raised during the school’s Nelson Mandela birthday celebration which was shared between Phakamisa and The Open Door Crisis Centre. The Open Door Crisis Centre works very closely with John Wesley School, with Open Door Crisis Centre counsellor Mrs Mpho Makhetha coming to the school every Thursday to counsel learners in need. John Wesley School principal, Mrs Helen Birchall, praised the centre for its dedication and commitment to the community, and thanked Mpho for her role in making a difference in the lives of the John Wesley School pupils under her care.
