Councillors tackle Field’s Hill trauma
Local NPO offers free counselling to the residents that have been traumatised or affected by the Field's Hill accident.
FOCUS on the Family is offering free counselling to all who were affected by the horrific accident that occurred on Thursday 5 September on Field’s Hill in Pinetown.
The non-profit organisation (NPO) has a fully fledged counselling centre, with several Zulu speaking counsellors at its disposal.
According to Brad Sadler, director of Family Ministries, the NPO is offering grief and trauma counselling sessions to anyone who has suffered a loss or has been traumatised by the event.
“We know that there are many other organisations who have offered to assist, but we are merely another door that is open to the community,” said Sadler.
“Our offer does not carry an expiry date. People are welcome to come for counselling whenever they are ready, even in a few months. For a lot of people there is a delayed response. They think they are okay, then suddenly something happens and they discover that they are not coping,” added Sadler.
The NPO staff are trained to assist residents with the many issues families face on a daily bases and to provide sound and practical guidance based on Christian principles.
The centre, situated at 32 Old Main Road in Hillcrest, is open Mondays to Fridays from 8.30am to 4pm. Contact 031 716 3300.
