Run along to SPCA fundraiser

Kloof and Highway SPCA invites residents to join its staff on a Fun Trail Run to raise much needed funds for the NPO.

THE Kloof and Highway SPCA will be hosting a fun trail run on 24 September at 7am to raise much needed funds for the building of its new puppy facility.

The event will consist of two trails: a 15km and a 5km route. Both routes go through the Glenholme Nature Reserve’s forest, swamp and grasslands areas, which include spectacular views of waterfalls and gorges.

The cost of the 15km route is R150 per person, or R100 per person if residents register before the event. The 5km event costs R50 per person and friendly dogs on leashes are welcome at R10 per dog.

Registration starts at 6am and the first 200 entrants to register will receive a goodie bag. There will be prizes for the first three men and women to cross the finish line in each event.

The Kloof and Highway SPCA Village Green and tea garden will be open and Belinda Dolphin will be performing in the tea garden.

According to Sarah van Heerden, operations manager at the the SPCA, this is the SPCA’s first trail run and the SPCA staff are hoping to make it an annual event.

“This is the perfect event for people to see the beautiful property that our SPCA is situated on as I am sure that most people are not aware of the beautiful waterfalls and scenery we are surrounded by,” she added.
