Music talent takes pupil to Italy
PBHS pupil Sanele Khubisa going far with his music talent
GRADE 11 pupil from Pinetown Boys’ High School, Sanele Khubisa, recently went to Italy with his choir, the KZN Youth Choir where they competed against 18 other countries from around the world.
Sanele said being in Italy was one of the best experiences of his life as his first time out of the country.
“The first week was mainly for touring, we went to Venice, Rome, Verona and the competition was held in Florence,” he said.
The KZN Youth Choir did very well. Overall, they won two gold medals for Best Female Soloist and Best Contemporary Composition.
“There were other categories we took part in where we also did well, we received one gold, one silver and two bronze.
“What makes our choir different from all others is that our sound is unique.
“My highlight of the trip was visiting Venus where I shopped like nobody’s business and was able to get some gifts for my family.
“I also enjoyed visiting the Sistine Chapel in Rome,” he said.
Sanele also sings tenor in the PBHS choir and said he is inspired by an international singer, Beyoncé, who is his role model.
“I am planning to study music, I am organised and I want things done in a proper way and I want to composed my own songs,” said Sanele.
