THE fourth IBV Children’s VIP Day will be at the Durban Exhibition Centre on Sunday 20 October where 2 500 less privileged children from in and around Durban will be treated to an interactive day of fun, treats, games and pampering in the company of sports stars and entertainment celebrities as part of IBV International Vaults’ social responsibility programme.
The organisers are appealing to corporate, civic organisations, service providers, small businesses and individuals to come on board and lend their weight to this innovative event to add value to the Children’s VIP Day, but to also look at forming lasting partnerships with children’s organisations and homes.
IBV CEO Ashok Sewnarain said, “Since its inception, the essential purpose of this day has been to make a large number of underprivileged children VIP’s for a day while business leaders play a reversal of roles as their executive helpers.
“This is a ‘cash-less’ initiative with the platform made available to partner with us on this magnanimous venture. As a partner, you will create for yourself an opportunity to see the elated faces of joy while providing whatever possible to help realise the dreams of those less fortunate than ourselves.”
The organisers are looking for partners to support with giveaways on the day in the form of tog bags, clothing, maths sets, calculators, stationery, books, toiletries, sweets and games. They are also looking for partners to support the event with transport, food and beverages, entertainment and activities.
The 2013 event is the fourth and follows on from similar events held in 2007, 2008 and 2010. The line up offers fun and excitement for 2500 teens and pre-teens who live in children’s homes and places of safety.
“They get a chance to meet some of their heroes from the sports field, stage and screen; participate in games and challenges; paint, eat, play, sing and create for a full day, while being supervised, served and assisted by executives who donate their time and skills to this worthy cause.
“It is through the sounds of their laughter and the sights of their smiles, that we will have ultimately achieved the event’s greatest success,” said Sewnarain.
