Missing woman found dead

Woman's body found 10 days after she disappeared in broad daylight.

THE body of a 52-year-old woman was found at the park on the intersection of Mount Vernon and Freemantle Road on Monday 7 October. The woman had been missing for 10 days before her body was found.

The woman was reported missing by her family at the Bellair SAPS after she did not return home on 28 September. According to the family, the woman had gone to visit her partner who lived in Bankhead Road. She reportedly left his house at 2pm and was to walk back to her son’s house on Freemantle Road. She never arrived.

After reporting her missing, the police requested the family to help them search for her. A week later the woman’s clothes were found in the park.

A friend of the family who is also a policeman, then sought the assistance of another friend who worked for the Empangeni K-9.

On Monday 7 October, family members, friends, police and sniffer dogs conducted a thorough search of the park where more of the woman’s belongings were found and eventually her body. “We are deeply saddened by this tragic event, should anyone have more information that would assist the police in solving this case, those persons are urged to contact the Bellair SAPS,” said Raymond Moore, founder of the Queensburgh Crime Watch.

A case of murder has now been opened and is being investigated by Bellair SAPS.
