Mercedes Benz gang arrested

Bellair SAPS arrest bank robbery gang

FOUR men were arrested by the Bellair SAPS crime prevention unit on Monday 7 October following two armed robberies incidents.

In the first incident a resident was robbed at gunpoint outside Standard Bank on Main Road just after 10am as the resident left the bank. It is believed that three gunmen held up the man before getting into a silver Mercedes Benz with an NU registration and making off with an undisclosed amount of money.

Two hours later a man was robbed of R18 000 outside an FNB ATM on South Coast Road by three gunmen in a Mercedes matching the description of the vehicle used in the Malvern robbery. Several people reported having seen the Mercedes entering the Umlazi township.

Police from all over Durban South were dispatched to hunt down the Mercedes gang and after a day’s work the Bellair crime prevention unit was reported to have arrested the gunmen just after 8pm on Monday night.
