Young athletes take a swing at baseball

Local resident initiates U18 baseball league.

NICOLE Dyer, a Pinetown resident, has initiated an U18 baseball league.

Dyer along with Kim Brown, Mark Glock and Neall Bean have been managing and coaching the little athletes.

They currently have fully functioning U9 and U12 teams that train and compete on a regular basis.

Training is on Tuesdays at 5.30pm and Thursdays 6.30.pm at the Ashley Sports Club (10 Russell Street in Pinetown).

The Ashley Saints play every Sunday. On Sunday 20 October the league will be competing at Hay Park Sports Grounds in Durban.

“The league is open to new players. It is a great opportunity for children to learn about baseball and team work while having fun,” said Dyer.

According to Dyer the league desperately needs U15 players so that they can build up an U15 team. Currently, they have only two U15 players.
