Man falls to his death

During the construction process at Sandy's Centre in Pinetown, one of the construction workers fell to his death.

THULANI Ndlovu, a 25-year-old construction worker plunged to his death from a six metre high building in Pinetown at the weekend.

He was part of the team involved in the upgrade of Sandy’s Centre in Pinetown.

Áccording to Chris Hammond, the safety officer for Sandy’s Centre during the construction process, Ndlovu was standing on the roof in the front section of the building and was inspecting the ground level work area when he fell.

The owners of Sandy’s Centre said they are all deeply saddened by the unfortunate loss of life and wish to reassure the Highway community that they will do everything possible to ensure they provide a safe environment for both the workers as well as the public making use of the centre.

“The deceased’s family and his co-workers are receiving counseling. The matter is under investigation and no further details are available at this stage,” said Hammond.

The construction at Sandy’s Centre is expected to conclude at the end of November.
