It is alleged that construction workers were on duty when they were held up by four men at gunpoint. The men allegedly fired two shots in the direction of the victims, stole tools to the value of R35 000 and fled the scene on foot towards Clermont. Police followed the direction of the men and one of them was found hiding next to the river with the help of a police patrol dog.

“A Beretta pistol with serial number filed off, one magazine and four live rounds of ammunition were found on the suspect. A case of unlawful possession of firearm and ammunition was also added,” said Manqele.
