Ntokozo is an all rounder

John Wesley School's SPAR Star of the Month - February 2014.

ACCORDING to John Wesley School’s SPAR Star of the Month and Grade 7 pupil, Ntokozo Qwabe, there are not enough hours in a day.

Guided by his faith in God and his strong sense of propriety, he has established himself as a leader of some repute at John Wesley School. His love for school life and his passion for sport are clearly evident as he animatedly explains how much he enjoys being a part of the John Wesley School family.

Ntokozo has been at the school since Grade R and a weekly border since Grade 5. He lives with his parents, grandmother, aunt and cousins in Mariannhill in Pinetown. His father is a minister in the Pinetown area and has always encouraged and inspired him to do well at school and to enjoy life to the fullest.

“Ntokozo exemplifies all of the qualities we as teachers endeavour to instil in children. He is hard-working, friendly, caring and humble. These qualities have earned him respect among his teachers and peers,” said deputy principal, Darron Tarr.

His class teacher, Leah Marais, said he is always willing to help and has a positive attitude towards his school work.

Ntokozo enjoys swimming, cross country, playing rugby, hockey, cricket and soccer at school. He is also a member of the school choir and, despite his passion for sport, still produces above average academic results. Ntokozo is hoping to make the KZN Soccer Trials this year.

“We are immensely proud to call Ntokozo one of our own,” said Tarr. “He is a gifted sportsman with exceptional footballing talent. His endeavours on the sports field are always characterised by determined effort and outstanding sportsmanship, making him an excellent ambassador for his school.”

When he’s not at school, Ntokozo is at the Mariannhill Soccer Club on a Saturday, he attends church on Sunday morning and plays soccer with his friends in the afternoon. He also dreams of one day becoming an actor or a professional soccer player.
