Couple dies in mystery fire

The cause of the fire that killed a Mariannhill couple is still unknown.

A MARIANNHILL couple was burnt to death in their shack in the KwaNxumalo area, recently.

According to W/O Trevor Govender, Mariannhill SAPS communications officer, 50 year old Mduduzi Hlongwane was asleep with his girlfriend, Leti Dube when the fire started.

“Hlongwane died on the scene while Miss Leti sustained serious burns all over her body. She was taken to RK Khan Hospital in a critical condition and she died in hospital on Saturday. The cause of the fire is unknown at this stage. An inquest docket has been registered at Mariannhill SAPS,” he said.
