May’s defence gears up for bail application
Sanele Goodness May will appear in the Pinetown Magistrate's Court on Wednesday 2 April.
SANELE May made his first court appearance at the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court for this year and the case was adjourned until Wednesday 2 April at the request of May’s defence team.
May was charged with 24 counts of culpable homicide after the truck he was driving crashed into five vehicles at the bottom of Field’s Hill last year in September.
May’s attorney, Professor Mdletshe, said the defence would apply for bail again but as investigations were “still underway” asked for the case to be adjourned until Wednesday 2 April.
Magistrate Chili granted the adjournment despite the state being ready to formally indict May.
The case will move to the Durban High Court on Tuesday 27 May.
