Fast and efficient voting for majority

Most voters experienced a good voting day.

FAST voting times and efficient and friendly electoral staff seemed to be what the vast majority of Highway voters experienced at yesterday’s 2014 National and Provincial Elections.

Most voting stations in Waterfall, Hillcrest, Gillitts, Kloof, Cowies Hill, Pinetown and Westville seemed to receive positive feedback from voters who found the process quick and easy.

Voters expressed their views via BBM to the Highway Mail/Hilltop phone with messages such as “Waterfall Library going in alphabetical order, done and dusted in two minutes. Very impressed!”; “I voted at Ashley Primary School – excellent and sufficient work from the staff. I was in and out within 10 minutes.”

Stations that received negative comments were Benjamin Pine and Vision Church in Gillitts. One voter at Benjamin Pine said that the problem was caused by opening 30 minutes late with no ballot papers and not initially dividing the lines into alphabetical order which caused her to have a two hour wait. Once the problems had been sorted out, things then appeared to get back on track.

A voter at Vision Church said, “Voting at Vision Church very slow. Been standing here almost an hour already and still have 50 people in front of me!”
