Security guards threaten province-wide strike

Fidelity workers said they are giving management seven days to respond on their grievances or they will go on a provincial strike.

SATAWU members marched to the Fidelity offices in New Germany on Tuesday to drop off a memorandum of their complaints.

Fidelity staff that works under the Security Guard division said they are giving Fidelity seven days to respond or they will go on a provincial strike.

Shop steward and secretary of SATAWU in Pinetown, Thomas Ndlovu said they have so many grievances and the management is not doing anything about it.

“Today, we have organised a peaceful strike as it only people who are off duty and who works night shift are part of this strike. The work is going on as usual,” said Ndlovu.

Among things that the workers were complaining about was that the workers are not treated equally and other members do not get paid at the end of the month.

Ndlovu said there is no working relationship between SATAWU and Fidelity and this has to stop.
