
THREE men were arrested yesterday afternoon for a house robbery by members of the Pinetown Rapid Response Unit.
Pinetown SAPS communications officer, Lt Bongumusa Manqele, said, “Three men aged 23, 24 and 37 allegedly went to a house in Wyebank Road early in the day where they threatened the complainant (55), her son and a maid with knives and demanded jewellery.
“The victims were allegedly tied up with ropes and locked in the bedroom. The robbers stole two flat screen television sets, four cameras, five cell phones, jewellery and clothing before leaving the scene on foot.
“Police received a tip- off about the whereabouts of the robbers and they proceeded to nearby informal settlement, Zamokuhle where they were arrested and the stolen items were also recovered,” said Manqele.
He added that two knives suspected to be used during the robbery were also seized from the suspects.
The suspects will be charged for house robbery and are expected to appear in the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court soon.
