Three injured in weekend accidents

Netcare 911 reported two separate accidents in Hillcrest which left three people injured on Sunday 20 July.

THREE people were injured in two separate accidents in the upper highway this weekend.

The first accident occurred at the Hammarsdale bridge in the early hours of Sunday 20 July.

Netcare paramedics said the two men were seriously injured after their vehicle crashed against the Hammarsdale bridge.

The Netcare 911 Rescue unit used the jaws of life to extricate the men from the vehicle. Once freed, the men were treated at the scene and then taken to hospital. Police are still investigating the cause of the accident.

The second accident involved a 16-year-old-girl, who was injured after her bicycle collided with a car along Ashley Drive in Everton, Hillcrest on Sunday at around 6.30pm.

Netcare 911 paramedics arrived at the scene and discovered the girl had been thrown over her handle bars and landed on the roadway.

After she was stabilised at the scene paramedics transported her to a local hospital. Police are still investigating the cause of the accident.
