Shongweni crash witnesses urged to come forward

Anyone who can help identify the other driver is asked to come forward.

Witnesses who saw the accident that occurred on Saturday, 23 August at 4pm on the M13 at the Shongweni turn off are asked to please come forward as help is needed to identify the other driver involved in this tragedy.

Melissa and Brett Oscroft were travelling in a white Tucsan when they were hit by a small white bakkie (believed to be a Colt) which caused them to lose control and go down an embankment into a tree.

Tragically Brett died, despite attempts by paramedics to save him. Melissa was stabilised and transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The driver of the white bakkie did not stop after the accident. He is believed to be a mature caucasian male.

“We are desperately trying to find this individual, who was involved in this tragic car accident,” said Kerri Young, a friend of the Oscrofts. “We would also like to ask that this message be shared as much as possible on Facebook or by word of mouth.”

If anyone has information about this person or has seen a white bakkie with damage on the right hand side please contact Kerri Young on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/kerri.young.50?fref=ts).
