Damsel in distress

Geeky librarian Griselda, named after Chaucer’s damsel, has hidden from life in books for years, trapped by fear. When charming library visitor Edward Pamment arrives, she must find the courage to face the world and a haunted past.

The one woman cabaret stars Kiruna-Lind Devar (Chicago, Mamma Mia!) in her first solo show, directed by award-winning Daniel Anderson, with music direction by Samantha Riedel.

Written by Amanda Bothma, Damsel in Distress features songs like I Love Paris, Mein Herr, At Seventeen and You Don’t Own Me. The 70 minutes show explores courage, survival and gender-based violence with music, humour and heart.

Get ready to be dazzled

The dazzling spectacle that captured the hearts of Durban audiences is back by popular demand! Looking for a relaxed family outing in the heart of the Upper Highway? The Kloof Family Market hosted by Durban Highway Lifestyle Market is transforming into an enchanted hidden garden at St Agnes Church, The Junction.

Children can run free in the lush private gardens and playground while adults browse through various stalls. Meet your neighbours and enjoy live music by talented Maria, with jazz, old favourites and modern hits. The market takes place on Saturday, September 12, from 09:00 to 14:00 at 53 Abelia Road, Kloof. Ros Cryer’s painting exhibition

The public is invited to Ros Cryer’s Painting Exhibition on Saturday, September 12 from 09:30 to noon in the Pinetown Sandown Village À La Carte Room. Snacks and champagne will be served.

In anticipation of the exhibition, Paul Cryer will give an interesting insight into Ros’s paintings, accompanied by slides, on Thursday afternoon at 15:20, following Sandown tea.

The talk will take place in the lounge and promises to be a fascinating introduction to Ros’s work ahead of the exhibition. Everyone is welcome. You are all most welcome.

Music and friendship

Ct Filip’s concert series under the banner of “Music and Friendship” will continue on Friday, September 11 at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, 79 Old Main Road, Kloof at 19:00 when music by Chopin, List, Beethoven, Bach, Piazzolla and other beloved and popular composers will be performed on piano, guitar and accordion.
