The memorial service for August Thom will be held at the Methodist Church, Church Lane in Pinetown on Friday 10 October at 11am.
August was born in Middelburg, Mpumalanga. He grew up in Kimberley with his parents and his two younger brothers, Carl and Frederich. He was married to Marita and has two sons Carl and Herman.
Marita described August as an active and keen spear fisherman for the best part of last 30 years. He was passionate about the sea and always managed to impart some of his vast knowledge to the young and upcoming spear fishermen.
“August has always lived in faith of his Shepherd and has been a kind and thoughtful person to all who knew him. He leaves behind a legacy of love for the sea and its fish. His family and his many friends mourn his sudden death,” said Marita.
