Tastic products could be toxic

Africa’s largest food product manufacturer Tiger Brands has pulled more than 30 000 of its  Tastic products after they were found to contain banned chemicals.

Possible carcinogens (or cancer-causing agents) Methyl yellow and Sudan Red were found in Tastic Simply Delicious cook-in-sauces and ready-to-eat rice products which were made between June and July of this year at a factory in India and sold in South African stores from August.

An additional precautionary recall of another 200 000 units in the same range is also underway.
