LGE 2026: Cowies Hill voters praise smooth voting process

Voters in Cowies Hill highlighted the importance of making their voices heard on issues affecting their communities.

VOTING started on a smooth note in Cowies Hill with many voters applauding the officials for being professional and helpful.

The voting station in Ward 18 was busy this morning with voters coming out in numbers to exercise their rights to vote.

This is what some of the voters had to say:

Andreas Mathios – Voting is about more than political parties, promises and propaganda. It is about our future, our children and the opportunities we create for the next generation.

High unemployment, particularly among our youth, should make us question where we are failing as a society. South Africa has extraordinary people, resources and potential. We need to turn that potential into education, employment and meaningful opportunities.

Educate yourself, question leadership and demand accountability. Real change doesn’t begin and end at the ballot box. It starts in our communities, with ordinary people taking action.

Rob and Colleen Thatcher –  The process is so quick, we were there for five minutes. It is well organised, the officials were helpful. We urge people to come and vote. People must vote for the right person, we have voted and hope we made a good choice.

Nhlanhla Mpondi – This station is so organised, the process has been smooth and quick. It is important to exercise your democratic right. People must use it. Voting is one way to make sure that your voice is heard. Voting helps in many areas, such as daily issues like street lights, burst pipes and service delivery as a whole. Different communities face different challenges, so this is the only way that people can be heard. It is unfortunate that people are misled during this time.

Sanelisiwe Tsinde

My name is Sanelisiwe Tsinde, and I'm a mother of two boys and very family-oriented. Being a community journalist for years, I can proudly say I love writing about positive community news articles and giving a voice to the voiceless. Seeing people getting assistance warms my heart. Every day is a different challenge and a new learning opportunity. I supply news for our trusted publication weekly, and a few years ago, Caxton ventured into online publication, so I contribute daily to the websites. I could say I am a multimedia journalist, and working in a community newspaper is beneficial as we do not focus on one thing but we do a bit of everything.
