Institute denies Addington Ebola report
The National Institute for Communicable Diseases says no patient has been admitted for testing of the Ebola virus at Addington Hospital.
THERE has been much speculation and confusion over the report that a man was admitted to Addington Hospital yesterday to be tested for the Ebola virus.
The National Institute for Communicable Diseases, in a statement released on their website said the man was never admitted or tested at Addington for Ebola, and that he did not fit the case definition for the Ebola virus.
According to the statement, the man is a fleet manager for a company in Sierra Leone and had no risk of exposure. He apparently complained of a fever and was referred to Addington. “He decided he wasn’t feeling sick after all, was just worried and wanted to have an Ebola test done to be sure,” reads the statement.
No test was done and he was not admitted. The National Institute for Communicable Diseases did not receive any specimens to be tested for the Ebola virus.
