Centre makes a difference in the lives of Molweni families
new uniform brings smiles to Molweni pupils.

MOLWENI resident and mother, Phumzile Madinane, is dedicated to helping underprivileged people in Molweni.
She is the project manager of Bhekimdeni Multipurpose Centre that started in 2003. The centre serves as a support structure to underprivileged families within the Molweni area.
BMC has community caregivers who render door to door services helping the elderly and the sick and in this way know how many homes have parents and how many child-headed homes are in the area. The elderly-headed homes and child-headed homes are assisted with monthly groceries, clothing and new school uniforms. The beneficiaries are given life skill classes to better their lives.
Recently pupils of Kwa Dinabakubo High School, Tholulwazi High School, KhanyakweAfrika Primary School and Zimele School for the Disabled gathered at the Kwa Dinabakubo Hall to get their new uniforms and shoes from the BMC. Forty two new uniforms and pairs of shoes were handed over to the children who were identified as needing them the most.
Madinane said: “Ten pupils are identified from each school by their teachers to receive groceries and uniforms. The teachers then approach the centre for assistance. The centre works together with the teachers to bring forward the shy pupils. The centre relies on donations to give a helping hand, for now we only get assistance from the Department of Social Development and there is never enough to keep everyone happy”.
Kwa Dinabakubo High School teacher, Nompumelelo Dlamini, said she cannot express her gratitude and happiness for the pupils who will benefit from the BMC. She helped identify the pupils who needed assistance the most and she had seen that the school had other pupils who need help but are scared to come forward. Twelve of the school’s pupils will be given new uniforms from BMC.
Dlamini said she wished more pupils would come forward to get assistance. The school feeding scheme cannot reach all. BMC appealed to the public for help as they need donations of clothing, school uniforms, food and anything that could be of assistance to the centre.
