Help Hospice host annual fete

If you are great at making things, and have some spare time on your hands, donate some goodies for the Highway Hospice Christmas Fete.

THE Highway Hospice is appealing to the community to help donate both their time and goods by creating handmade goodies for its exciting Christmas Fete on 6 December from 9am to 2pm.

Sewing – The organisation will supply the fabric for you to make cushion covers, aprons, bags, cell phone bags, peg bags and more.

Christmas decorations – The hospice wants to have a stall filled with lots of lovingly made Christmas decorations.

Knitting and crochet – The NPO can supply the wool if you have a talent for making stuffed toys, baby clothes, scarves or anything else you can think of.

Baking – What is Christmas without the traditional Christmas cakes and puddings? The hospice is willing to help with the ingredients but is in need of masters in the kitchen, nearer to the time, to make the freshly baked treats.

Sweets – Do you have a sweet tooth and know how to make your own candy, make a batch of delicious fudge and candies that can be sold on the day to raise funds.

Pickles and jams – If you know how to make great tasting home-made jams, there will be a stall at the fete selling these delicious goodies.

Plants – Do you have green fingers? The hospice needs some herbs and pot plants to liven up the place and if you have any old pots lying around at home, you can donate those too.

Clothing – There will be a second hand sale on Saturday 29 November from 9am to 2pm and any donations of shoes, bags, clothing, belts are welcome. If you are dropping off items, please mark the package with “fete”. If you need the donation to be collected, the hospice will pick it up.

Then of course there is the white elephant and pandora stalls, so if there are any unused items lying around your home that are collecting dust and could be worth something to someone, now is your chance to declutter. All goods and donations can be dropped off at the Highway Hospice, 59 Locksley Drive in Sherwood and for collections contact Cheryl or Cathy on 031 208 6110
