HCA cheerleaders aim high at nationals

HCA's newly formed cheerleading squad did their school proud.

CURRO Hillcrest Christian Academy’s High School Cheerleading squad consisting of 18 girls, came 7th in their category and one of their five girl stunt groups, earned a bronze medal at the recent Nationals in Cape Town.

There were 13 teams in total from the different provinces and the competition was tough. On the Friday, Curro HCA qualified as one of the top 8 teams in the country and went on to compete at the finals on the Saturday.

“Curro HCA only started Cheerleading this year and, with no more than 9 months experience, they competed against large schools that have been Cheerleading for more than 10 years. The Curro HCA team consisted of Grade 8 and 9 pupils only, whereas the norm is to have seniors compete at National level,” explained Rozanne Milne, marketer for HCA.

Next year, Curro HCA will be extending their group and look forward to competing even more successfully in 2015.
