Pinetown maths teacher retires

Local maths teacher bids farewell.

AFTER 34 years of teaching, Pinetown Boys’ High School maths teacher, Janet Von Klemperer bids farewell to the industry.

Von Klemperer started teaching at Pinetown Girls’ High School in 1980. In 1981, she taught in Pietermatitzburg and in 1982 she was employed at PBHS.

She took a break from teaching when she had her two sons. In that time she did part time locums in different high schools in the Highway area.

Since 1997 she has been teaching maths, part time at PBHS.

Von Klemperer said she has had a wonderful and busy career.

“I am thankful to all the schools and the headmasters who have given me so many opportunities to work and to grow professionally and particularly PBHS.

“I have always been very proud to serve this school,” she said.

Von Klemperer will now focus on her family and do some volunteer work for various charities.

She added that she will miss her colleagues and the pupils.

“It has been a privilege to watch the pupils I have taught over the years mature into fine young gentlemen.”
