[VIDEO] Heavy vehicles caught racing on Fields Hill
A truck and a bus were caught on camera, allegedly speeding along Fields Hill.
Two videos shared by local councillor Rick Crouch on his Facebook page seem to demonstrate how heavy vehicles are still a problem on the infamous Fields Hill.
One video purports to show a truck allegedly going over 100 km/h. The user who posted it, ‘talmadgew’, wrote the following caption:
“This truck was followed at over 100 km/h down Fields Hill through an 80 zone. The horse has a speed limit sign of 80 km/h on the back.”
Another video of an allegedly speeding bus posted by the same user had the following caption:
There have been calls to ban heavies on Fields Hill in the past, most notably after the horrific truck crash which killed 24 people in 2013. Responding to these calls, the Transport department put restrictions in place that were meant to improve safety on the road.
The latest fatality on Fields Hill involved an elderly woman who was crushed to death when a truck rolled onto her vehicle last month.
