Fun nature days for youth

Kids can enjoy connecting with nature.

Hillcrest Conservancy will host a Youth Nature Club in Springside Nature Reserve from 9am to 12pm on various day throughout the holidays.

Friday, 19 December and Monday, 5 January Fresh water invertebrates & river health (Age group: 9-12 years): Gumboots essential: learn about catching and identifying aquatic invertebrates in stream habitats; discover water quality and stream health.

Wednesday, 7 January Animal tracks (Age group: 7-12 years): learn about different animals and their tracks; take a nature walk to look for tracks and signs; prepare plaster cast moulds of animal tracks; other crafts and activities.

Friday 9, JanuaryGetting rid of invasive alien plants (Age group: 7-12 years): learn about invasive alien plants, take a walk to find and remove them; make an invasive alien plant identification collection, plant an indigenous plant to take home.

Cost: R80 per child per day including snacks and juice. If you would like to pack an additional healthy snack for mid-morning please do so.
