SPCA reaches out to vulnerable animals

Kloof and Highway SPCA continues with its outreach efforts.

THE KLOOF and Highway SPCA will host its first one-day outreach clinic on Wednesday, 28 January at the SPCA, 29 Village Road, Kloof. The aim of these clinics is to reach out to vulnerable animals in poverty stricken areas, provide primary animal healthcare and educate the community on how to look after their pets.

Last year, 732 animals were sterilised and many more animals were treated. The SPCA focused its outreach efforts in 2014 on the following areas: KwaNgcolosi, Molweni, Embo, Kwanyuswa, Inchanga, Shongweni, Savannah Park, Wyebank, Sarnia, Mariannridge and Mariannhill. These areas were highlighted as being in critical need of basic animal healthcare.

Residents are encouraged to support this project by donating collars and blankets to the SPCA. Marketing and fundraising manager at the Kloof and Highway SPCA, Barbara Laubscher, said, “We are able to source blankets at R12 each – however, we need to order them in bales of 75 blankets. Any contributions would be greatly appreciated.”
