Early morning accident leaves 13 injured

Two taxis collided head-on in Booth Road, Bellair.

THIRTEEN people suffered various injuries yesterday morning (2 February) when the two vehicles they were travelling in were involved in an accident along Booth Road, Bellair shortly after 9am.

Paramedics arrived on the scene to find that two taxis had collided head-on, and passengers from one of the taxis were found with injuries, lying on the side of the road. The driver of the other taxi had no passengers at the time of the accident, but the force of the impact left him trapped in the wreckage. The fire department rushed to the scene to use the jaws of life to free him.

All 13 victims were stabilised on the scene before they were transported to nearby hospitals.

The cause of the accident is unclear at this point but the relevant authorities are investigating.
