LGE 2026: DA wins Ward 10, Sibongile Zulu is the new councillor
The councillor says her priorities will include renovations at the Kloof library and proper stormwater drainage infrastructure in the area.
SIBONGILE Zulu, the incoming councillor at Ward 10, said her top three priorities for the area will be to ensure residents are thoroughly represented in council, ensuring stormwater drains function to the required standard, and that the renovations at the Kloof library are completed.
Zulu, who from 2015 to 2020 served as the DA’s branch secretary in the UK, said she is committed to continuing the good work done by her predecessors.
The incoming councillor, who will be taking up public office for the first time in her career, said when it comes to stormwater drainage infrastructure, “it is best to be prepared rather than reactive”, in particular, in light of expected extreme weather conditions.
Zulu thanked all the residents of Ward 10 who made their way to the polls and voted for the DA.
“Thank you. Your support, encouragement and participation mean so much to me,” she said.
The DA was in the lead in seven of the eight voting districts in the ward with 21 973 votes, followed by the MKP with 991 and the VF Plus with 733 votes.

“To those who placed their personal trust in me, I am truly humbled. I know that trust is something I must earn every day, and I do not take it, or a single vote, for granted. It is a privilege to serve my community, and I look forward to working alongside you to build a Ward 10 that works for all.
“To our volunteers who gave up their time, stood at voting stations and supported the campaign, a heartfelt thank you. I know the hours, effort and personal sacrifices that went into this campaign, and I am incredibly grateful. You were an important part of this journey, and I could not have done it without you.
“I would also like to extend my warm thanks to Caelee Laing for her hard work and dedication to Ward 10. Thank you for the time and commitment you have given to our community.
“Ward 10, thank you for opening your hearts, placing your trust in me and believing in the blue machine. I look forward to serving you,” said Zulu.
