22 illegal immigrants arrested

The 22 illegal immigrants that were arrested in the Pinetown CBD will be deported back to their respective countries.

TWENTY-two illegal immigrants were arrested in the Pinetown Central Business District on Friday.

Pinetown SAPS, in conjunction with KwaDabeka SAPS, Pinetown Tactical Response Team, Escombe Railway Police, Metro Police, Transnet, Prasa, Immigration and various departments from eThekwini Municipality embarked on a crime prevention campaign in the CBD.

Pinetown SAPS communications officer, Lt Bongumusa Manqele, said during the operation 22 illegal immigrants were arrested.

“Hundreds of fake DVDs were seized after they abandoned their stalls when they saw police,” said Manqele.

The illegal immigrants will be deported back to their respective countries.
