Teamwork leads to arrest of Ashley robbers

Two robbers were quickly apprehended thanks to swift action taken by local patrollers and security officers.

GOOD teamwork by the Ashley Residents’ Neighbourhood Watch (ARNW) patrollers led to the arrest of two robbers on the N3 on Wednesday.

Keith Snyman from the neighbourhood watch said at 2pm on Wednesday afternoon, ARNW members were alerted by Blue Security that a house robbery, in which two women had been held up, had just taken place in Fifth Avenue, Ashley.

“Patrollers arrived on scene and searched the area. ARNW was then alerted that the robbers were fence-hopping in Mimosa Road, Ashley and had made their way onto the N3,” Snyman said.

The ARNW then followed ADT Security onto the highway, where they spotted the robbers jumping out a bush and into a taxi.

“Our patrollers continued to follow the taxi to just past the Pavilion Shopping Centre and then contacted the SAPS Flying Squad and Dog Unit. Within a few minutes the taxi was pulled over and the robbers were apprehended, with all the stolen property recovered,” he said.

The watch thanked everyone who was involved in the arrest of the robbers.
