LIFE Westville Hospital held a successful ‘Cuppa for Cancer’ event on Friday in aid of CHOC, the Children’s Cancer Foundation of South Africa.
This event was organised by Sister Carol Hetem, unit manager of the children’s ward and the hospital organising team.
An amount of R6 727 was raised through the sale of hundreds of brightly-coloured cupcakes and bangles.
The cakes were donated by the hospital ward managers and RoyalMnandi.
“We are hosting this event for the second time this year and we are going to have it annually.
“We are also handing out pamphlets to raise cancer awareness as 15 February is International Children’s Cancer Day.
Hetem said she is very grateful to everyone that was involved in making the day a success.
“What a team effort: we collected much more money compared to the R4 891 we raised last year,” said Hetem.
A member from CHOC was given the money and she thanked everyone for their kindness and efforts.
