Lions Club beautifies children’s home

Five rooms at the Ethelbert Children's Home were renovated after the Lions Club of Cowies Hill made a generous donation towards the home.

ETHELBERT Children’s Home recently benefited from the funds raised at a golf day hosted by the Lions Club of Cowies Hill and motor dealers from around Durban. Through the club’s generous donation, the girls’ cottage at the home, which caters for 11 children, was renovated.

The walls of the five rooms were brightened with different shades of paint and new beds and decor added to the refurbishment of the Malvern-based home.

Director of Ethelbert Children’s Home, Vanessa Theophilus, expressed her appreciation to the club. “We are grateful to the Lions Club of Cowies Hill for their assistance with the refurbishment of our rooms. The funding we receive would never have enabled us to do what they did at our home. They have made the cottage more homely for our children with the lovely decor and furniture. I admire the members of the club, as each of them sacrificed their time and came to the home to personally assist with their renovations.”

During the upgrade, members of the club kept children entertained with a variety of activities which included, making pizzas and biscuits as well as exploring their artistic skills with exciting art and craft exercises.
