‘Drunk’ Pinetown cop video to be investigated
The policeman will have to explain his actions at a disciplinary tribunal once he is located.
THE SAPS has launched an internal disciplinary investigation after a video which exposed a ‘drunk‘ policeman went viral on social networking sites last week. Communications officer for the Pinetown SAPS, Lieutenant Bongumusa Manqele, has confirmed that the officer is employed at the Pinetown SAPS.
The video, which has since had 456 588 views on Facebook, was posted on the social platform by a motorist after the policeman allegedly tried to drive his son off the road.
Spokesman for the KZN media centre, Colonel Jay Naicker, said, “We view the conduct of the police officer in a very serious light, and once he is located he will have to explain his conduct to a disciplinary tribunal.”
