Trainee employees involved in stabbing altercation
A trainee manager who stabbed a trainee waiter was granted R500 bail.

A TRAINEE manager who stabbed a trainee waiter (17) at a local Spur appeared at the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court on Friday.
The victim’s mother said she is not happy about the way this matter was handled, as the police were not notified. According to her, the trainee manager threatened her son few weeks before this incident
“This incident happened after closing time. My son told me that the trainee manager asked him to pick up cigarette butt, which he did. He then told him to throw it in the bin inside the restaurant, my son told told him he would throw on his way home as his lift was waiting for him.
“The manager forced him to throw it in the restaurant bin, then followed him and stabbed him in the thigh, using his own personal knife,” said the victim’s mother.
The owner of the restaurant, John Busken, confirmed the incident. “It happened after work, just before locking up the restaurant. Apparently the trainee manager of six weeks and a trainee waiter engaged in horseplay, which unfortunately led to an accidental stabbing.
“The trainee manager did use his personal knife, but management was not aware that he carried a knife to work.”
He added that the the company does not condone staff members bringing weapons to work.
“This matter has been dealt with in terms of the company’s policy, and instituted disciplinary action against the trainee manager,” said Busken.
Pinetown SAPS communications officer, Cst Phindile Radebe, said a case was opened at the Pinetown SAPS.
“The accused appeared at the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court and was granted R500 bail,” she said.
