SPCA rescues dog from snare

The dog luckily sustained no serious injuries.

On Tuesday, 9 June the Kloof & Highway SPCA successfully rescued a dog that had been trapped in a snare in Wyebank.

They received a call from a resident who could hear the dog crying down in the gorge. It was unknown how long the dog had been there.

Inspector Petros Simamane, Michael Mamela and volunteer dog walkers set out to go and investigate and see if the dog could be located. After searching for more than an hour in the bush, the Kloof and Highway SPCA team found the scared male ‘Africanis’ caught with its neck in the snare.

Simamane quickly cut the dog free from the contraption and gave it water to drink. He had not sustained any serious injury and was taken back to the SPCA where he was given food, water and a warm place to sleep.

If the dog is not claimed within a week, he will be put up for adoption.
