AN amount of R27.7-million was raised by the Casual Day 2014 campaign, and people are urged to support this campaign again this year as it celebrates its 21st anniversary.
Casual Day has become a firm favourite on the calendar of many of South Africa’s businesses. It is an excellent opportunity for corporate team-building while also making a contribution to one of the most vulnerable sectors of society – people with disabilities.
The QuadPara Association of South Africa (QASA) is one of the 12 beneficiaries, and the association is proud to have been part of this campaign and is urging people to support it.
The project encourages people to dress differently to the usual corporate dress code, whether dressed up or dressed down. The ‘licence’ to be dressed outrageously is the Casual Day sticker, which is obtained for a donation of R10.
Wendy Fourie, project co-ordinator of QASA, said every R10 raised for a sticker is important as this is how they raise funds that provide material relief and promote rights to accessibility, education, housing, employment and full integration into society.
“We are encouraging individuals and companies to participate in this project, as staff members are usually eager to participate.
“We can supply the stickers, posters and brochures. We make it easy and inexpensive as we supply printed promotional material free of charge.
“We cannot change the whole world, but we can change the world for one person. Help us to do this by ‘joining the party’ – dressing differently and wearing the official Casual Day sticker on Friday, 4 September.”
People can order Casual Day stickers directly from QASA. Contact 031 767 0348, fax 031 767 0584 or e-mail projectcoor dinator@qasa.co.za.
