Robber crashes into fence with stolen car
A Pinetown resident will have to pay around R6 800 to repair his fence, which was damaged by a robber in a stolen car.

A PINETOWN father is grateful that he and his son escaped unharmed after a robber crashed into his fence with a stolen car. Highlands Hill resident, Dave Bentley, was asleep at around 2.15am yesterday when he was woken by a loud bang. He then went outside with his son to investigate.
According to Bentley, the 2008 blue Polo hatch had been stolen from Morelands Road, which is about 800 metres away from his house, prior to the accident.
“When we went outside we had noticed that the car crashed through the precast fencing. Inside the car was a laptop and a plasma TV. My neighbour then alerted the neighbourhood watch that patrols in our area. Members of the neighbourhood watch, officers from Blue Security, ADT and Mzansi Security, police and other emergency personnel arrived to assist. Patrols were then conducted to try and find the driver of the car.
“The owner of the car, who was asleep at the time, was then notified about the incident. It is unknown how many men were involved, but they broke through the woman’s front door and stole her laptop, TV and car before fleeing.
“I must commend everyone who assisted us, especially the neighbourhood watch, which were so efficient and helpful.”
